MONART DRAWING CLASSES
Want to improve your child’s fine motor skills, attention span and handwriting? Join us for Monart drawing classes at Magdalen right after school! Students learn the basics of drawing while experimenting with new media including design-quality markers, colored pencils, chalk and oil pastel, watercolor and much more. This guided step-by-step method improves visual perception skills by breaking down the subject matter for children to see and follow along with. Tuition includes all professional grade materials.
Meets Tuesdays 3:30-4:30pm, Ages: 1st-5th grade, in the Science Room
FALL/WINTER SESSION: LIVING RAINBOWS
Students will learn about the color wheel and use that knowledge to draw, paint and collage colorful animals in nature such as a butterfly, tropical bird and under water scenes. Look forward to lots of painting in this semester!

Tuition: $145.00 for 7 week session
SPRING SESSION: CARTOONING AND CHARACTERS
Students will learn how to make a funny caricature drawing of themselves, develop a cartoon strip and draw favorite characters from books, movies, games and cartoons. Students will vote each week on what to draw; some options may be Lego figurines, Disney characters, mythical creatures, mer-pets, Dr. Seuss characters or Garfield. Bring pictures of your favorite characters to draw.

Tuition: $165.00 for the 8 week session
LEARNING WITH LEGOS
Lego Corp. has designed several advanced language arts, math and applied science sets and curriculums for classroom use. Learning With Legos program uses several of these sets including Story Starters, Simple Machines, Motorized Mechanisms, More To Math, Learn To Learn and Build To Express. All of these different sets will be used in each semester of Learning With Legos classes. Students with different interests will all enjoy the variety of curriculum.

Kate Pepper, art educator at Monart School of Art, designed the curriculum used in the Learning With Legos classes in conjunction with specialty sets designed by Lego Corp. including, Learn to Learn, Build to Express, Story Starters, Simple and Motorized Machines. Learning With Legos classes are ideal for both boys and girls who have an interest in science, math, building, invention, machines, story telling and literature or who enjoy working with their hands. New themes and lessons are created each day for fresh investigations and narratives.
