BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT MONART SCHOOL OF ART
If your child enjoys making things with their hands, this is the perfect way to celebrate their birthday! There are three different options for parties: a traditional Monart Drawing or Painting Party, a Craft Party or a Lego Party. Each type of party can be for any age above three years. The cost for a party is $250 for 12 attendees including the Birthday person; for any additional guests, please budget $5 per person. These fun two hour long parties can be scheduled on Fridays after school or Saturday afternoons. Monart will provide all the needed art or Lego materials and 1-2 instructors plus helpers, depending on the age and size of the party. The art or Lego part of the party is approximately 90 minutes, with the remaining 30 minutes for refreshments and presents. Please bring three plastic table clothes for the refreshment tables, treats (we suggest cookies for easy cleanup) and bottled water or juice. Many parents do not send home a “treat bag” with guests because each guest will make several pieces of art to take home (one or two art/craft pieces will be created at a Lego party). We also have a large playground outside that guests are welcome to use during or after the scheduled party. In fact, if weather permits we are happy to have the party “spill over” into the playground or have refreshments outside. We decorate for each party to align with the theme on the bulletin boards in each classroom. You are welcome to come 15 minutes prior to party time to do additional decorating If you need additional time beyond the 15 minutes the rate is $25 per each 15 minute incremnets.
To schedule your party please email: firstname.lastname@example.org and have three date options for us to choose from. Once a date is confirmed by our staff you will need to pay for the party using the payment tab below. The more we know about the birthday person, the more creative we can be with art and craft projects at the party. You give us the theme or ideas, and we will do the rest! Descriptions below are only ideas for parties; we can tailor your party to your tastes. Our creative parties are geared for fun and learning!
Additional Things to know:
- Tell guests to wear clothes that can get messy!
- No babies or toddlers can attend the party. There are two reasons for this: if a parent is holding their baby or toddler they are unable to help their older child complete crafts. The most important reason however, is safety. We use many materials which would be unsafe for babies or toddlers to ingest or even handle. It is a professional art studio after all! If you have a baby or toddler please find alternate childcare so you can give your full attention to the party and guests.
- If parents plan on attending and their child does not need help with crafts we kindly ask that parents visit in the party room or out on the playground. We simply do not have the elbow room for dozens of parents to stand in the classrooms and visit while instructors are trying to manage the party. Our space is limited and it makes it difficult for our instructors to refill paint, help with scissors, refill materials and support the participants if there are too many adults in the classrooms.
- Tips are appreciated! Our teachers spend hours developing craft projects and work hard to bring you the very best party possible, show them your appreciation!
Monart Drawing or Sculpture Party: Best for ages 6 and up. Draw your favorite animal, vehicle, mythical creature or cartoon character! This type of party does require all guests to arrive at the party at the same time. If carpooling is not an option, we suggest having the refreshments at the beginning of the party so any late-comers will not be behind in the art project. This would be for a more mature or serious artist, as it does require several steps of instructions and little socializing time. End projects tend to be very high quality keepsakes. Examples of past parties include Dale Chihuly style sculptures, Paris, under the sea, painting gardens or butterflies, unicorns, jungle animals, horses and dozens more!
Painting Party: Best for ages 6 and up. Instructors will lead participants through a step by step acrylic painting. No two works will look the same! Paint your favorite animal, vehicle, mythical creature or cartoon character! Examples of past parties include bunnies, the Eiffel Tower, under the sea, dolphins, painting gardens or butterflies, unicorns, jungle animals, rainbows, Minions, horses and dozens more!
Pre-School Craft Party: Geared for ages 3-5; This party lasts 1. 5 hours due to participants age and attention span. Guests will rotate at their leisure between at least eight craft stations, a playroom or outside if weather permits. We ask that all guests of this age have a parent present for additional support, however the parents must participate with their child. Past party themes include: rainbows, butterflies, mermaids and pirates, painting, dinosaurs, vehicles, princess, snakes and reptiles, zoo animals and many more! Craft stations may include foam 3D animals, wands, swords or crowns, crayon rubbing and tempera paint creations, collage, glitter glue activities, animal faces, puppets, watercolor, wooden animals or just about any craft idea to fit your theme! Crafts are designed by Kate Pepper, former WCS Early Childhood teacher. Kate and her staff are trained to work with these young artists to ensure everyone has a positive experience and crafts are age appropriate.
Craft Party: Geared for ages 6-12: Best for any age that wants more of a party atmosphere. Guests will rotate at their leisure between at least a dozen craft stations. Past party themes include: rainbows, , mermaids and pirates, painting, dinosaurs, vehicles, princesses and pirates, snakes and reptiles, zoo animals and many more! Craft stations may include foam 3D animals, wands, swords or crowns, crayon rubbing and tempera paint creations, collage, glitter glue activities, animal faces, puppets, watercolor, wooden animals or just about any craft idea to fit your theme! The creative Monart instructors are all former classroom teachers and bring a wealth of ideas to party planning!
Lego Party: Available for both boys and girls ages 4-12, all skill levels will find a Lego party enjoyable. The available curriculums include Story Starters, Early Simple Machines, Simple Machines and Motorized Mechanisms. Story Starters, Early Simple Machines and Simple Machines are used for ages 4-8 and Motorized Mechanisms are used for ages 9-12 (Motorized Mechanisms is an advanced curriculum and the entire party will be spent building with Legos). A typical Lego party for ages 4-8 includes free build time and a coordinating craft as guests are arriving. Next, a story will be read to the group and a Lego scene then built inspired by the story. We can tailor this part to the birthday person’s liking. For example, a theme for a past party was Lego and dinosaurs. A 3D foam dinosaur was created by each guest and then printed on with Lego bricks to create scale patterns! A dinosaur book was then read to the group and a “dino land” was created with Legos. Countless other themes could be incorporated with the Lego curriculum including vehicles, safari, zoo, construction, food and restaurant, mythical legends and creatures, and many more. This is the perfect party for any child who is creative and likes to build with their hands!
