MONART DRAWING CLASSES

Students learn the basics of drawing while experimenting with new media including markers, colored pencils, chalk and oil pastels, watercolor and much more. This guided step-by-step method improves visual perception skills by breaking down the subject matter for children to see and follow along. Everyone is successful in Monart classes! *Please send a peanut and nut free snack with your child each week.

FIRST SEMESTER: FANTASTIC BEASTS
If you like the world of magic join us to draw, paint and make sculptures inspired by characters from Fantastic Beasts! Projects include making a Fwooper, Kelpie, Niffler, Occamy, Bowtruckle, Thunderbird, Demiguise and more! Students will use their imaginations to draw these unique fantasy animals and enjoy lots of fun water media.

Meets: Sept. 10, 17, 24; Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. Tuition is $85 for 8 the wks.

SECOND SEMESTER: OPTICAL ILLUSIONS
In this exciting “Op Art” class students will learn how to create work that can trick the eye by combining or layering different lines, patterns and shapes. Projects include radial paper designs, parabolic lines, a waving flag, op art cubes inspired by artist Bridget Riley and tessellations by M.C. Escher. Perfect for any child that enjoys art, math or making things with their hands.

Meets: Jan. 28; Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25; Mar. 3, 10, 24, 31. Tuition is $95 for the nine weeks.


SCIENCE CLUB FOR CURIOUS KIDS

Science Club is ideal for students interested in science, math, engineering, literature, creating, exploring, analyzing data, building and working with others that have similar interests. Each semester will bring a new theme and involves a series of core concept ideas including an engineering component where students will have the opportunity to test and design a prototype. Additionally, students will practice working both independently and as a team in order to foster collaboration, communication, and social skills. Work from class will come home and photos from class will be posted on Facebook each week so parents can enjoy seeing their kids in action. We hope to see your curious kid in classes soon! *Please send a peanut and nut free snack to school with your child each week.

Harry Potter Science – Experience what it’s like to be a student at Hogwarts! Young scientists will construct a wand that can cast a Lumos spell using a simple circuit, learn to care for magical creatures, brew potions, construct a flying snitch launcher, cast spells, design a crystal ball, and make their own Marauders Map. We solemnly swear that each student will learn the science behind each project and work through the engineering design process.

Meets: Nov. 5, 12, 19; Dec. 3, 10, 17; Jan. 7, 14, 21. Tuition is $95 for the nine week session.

Geo Kids – Calling all rock collectors – this class is for you! Students will examine rocks, minerals, and fossils to see how each are formed and conduct tests to study the unique characteristics of each. Our planet is constantly changing, therefore, young scientists will simulate the fascinating cycles of our planet through hands on projects and experiments. Projects include: make a model of planet earth out of dough, create edible candy rocks, make fossil imprints to take home, excavate plaster fossils and grow their own crystals.

Meets: Apr. 7, 14, 21, 28; May 5, 12, 19. Tuition is $75 for the seven week session.
