Ages: 4 ½ – 12, Tuition: $165     

Students will gain confidence by working on life-long skills in a playful environment.  We will learn about diction, voice inflection, facial expressions and characterization. The week will include themed music, simple choreography, acting, snacks and crafts.  Our professional teachers, Miss Denise and Miss Marcee have decades of experience in the classroom and on stage. Parents: come to our performance on Friday’s at 3:45 pm to see your child on the stage!

June 11th-15th Star Wars  Choose your own destiny and join us as we create our own Star Wars sequel! You will have a blast making your own light saber and droid.  We will learn how to walk and talk like your favorite Star Wars character and will create our own Star Wars battle by learning stage combat.  Teacher-Miss Marcee

June 18th-22nd Fabulous Fables, Folktales, and Fantasy  This week will be filled with some of the classics.  Pigs and princesses; giants and goats; mice and monsters all come to life as we act out several beloved childhood stories.  Children will have the opportunity to play many different characters. They will also learn the art of shadow puppetry as they create puppets of characters from the stories and perform them on a shadow puppet stage.  Teacher-Miss Denise

June 25th– 29th The Greatest Showman  Ladies and Gentlemen! We present the Greatest Show on Earth!  Bring your special talents and learn a few new tricks when you come to this Circus themed class. Learn how to juggle, make balloon animals, perform hula hoop tricks, and how to be a clown.  We will also sing and learn choreography to songs from The Greatest Showman movie.  Teacher-Miss Marcee

July 16th-20th Coocoo for Coco–  Using the themes and music from the recent Pixar hit, Coco, of celebrating our differences, following our dreams, and realizing the importance of family, we will sing, dance, create 3-D shadow box assemblages, make sugar skulls and paper flowers, and create our own song about “finding our voice”. We will also act out scenes from the movie! Teacher-Miss Denise

July 30th-August 3rd Incredibles II   Join us as we create our own super hero character, complete with name, power and backstory.  Students will love creating their own super hero cape and will test it out on an obstacle course. The climax of the week will include an EPIC Nerf battle and a performance of their very own super hero story.  Teacher-Miss Marcee.

Denise Jackson-Simon taught Drama at Buckner Performing Arts Magnet School for 22 years.  With the Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center, she has also taught Theatre classes, directed main stage musicals and traveling troupes, and currently performs in the Once Upon a Time series.  For the past two years, she has been the Drama teacher at Rolph Literacy Academy.
Marcee Cosby has been involved in theatre and music for as long as she can remember. She has performed in over 50 shows, 2 films, several commercials and has been trained in puppetry and clowning. She is currently the Theatre Teacher/Director at the Classical School of Wichita and enjoys directing the musicals every year.  She was recently nominated by “Music Theatre of Wichita” for a Jester award for “Outstanding Director” for her direction of My Fair Lady and Oklahoma!
